Natural Dry Shampoo: Lulu Organics Hair Powder Review

We all run a little late sometimes, and lets face it, washing your hair every day is one of the quickest ways to strip it of its natural shine. That is where dry shampoo comes in – and thank goodness for it! Over the past while I’ve used a multitude of variations of dry shampoo, until I realized that most of the powders had Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate – an ingredient boasting a dangerous number 9 on the Cosmetics Database safety ranking.

The Environmental Working Group & Skin Deep

For those of you who do not know about it, the Environmental Working Group has created the Cosmetics Database called Skin Deep, where you can search out the best and worst in cosmetics, wellness and household products. You can search for individual products and those ingredients you can’t pronounce. Although Skin Deep isn’t comprehensive in terms of the products it has, it does have a wealth of ingredient information.

Natural Fix for Hair On the Go

So, back to this dirty hair situation, how do we fix it naturally and organically? Well, I’ve been tipped off about mixing cacao powder and corn starch together to use as a hair powder, but if you are a product junkie like me, you may want to look into ordering Lulu Organic’s Hair Powder – talc-free and all organic goodness. Thanks for the tip from a bestie of mine who came across Lulu Organics in their stomping grounds of NYC.

Where to Find Lulu Organics?

They’re based in New York but they ship all across the US and internationally – so that shouldn’t stop you. For about a 4 oz bottle it will set you back about $30. Not much different from the stuff with chemical ridden products at the beauty counters.

In terms of scents, I would go with Lavender + Clary Sage (essential oil scented). They also have a few others, if you’re feeling daring. And aside from having volumized and fresher hair, it also comes in this lovely art nouveau-esque packaging. Tres chic!
