Just because the fall is here in the northern hemisphere, doesn’t mean there is any reason for you to lose that summer glow. However, with so many natural highlighters and bronzers on the market it’s not easy to choose the right one – especially if you’re a fair skinned gal like me. Beyond finding the perfect colour, it’s also about finding products that actually nourish your skin while you’re wearing them, as opposed to stop your skin from breathing or dry out. Well, gorgeous, here’s your answer: RMS Beauty.
The RMS Story
Why did RMS come to be? It’s all thanks to their founder, makeup artist Rose-Marie Swift (who also happens to be the beauty guru behind Miranda Kerrs’ flawless glowing face). Several years ago, Rose-Marie began to experience some health issues after an extensive series of tests, she learned that her blood contained toxic levels of heavy metals including aluminum, barium, cadmium, lead and mercury as well as high levels of pesticides and other chemicals. Rose-Marie was surprised when the technician asked if she worked in the cosmetics industry.
Whoa.. wait a minute, the technician actually asked if she worked in this industry? Talk about a wakeup call! And so, Rose-Marie set out to create clean cosmetics that looked beautiful on every skin type.
So if these aren’t enough reasons to get curious about RMS Beauty (admit it, I had you at Miranda Kerr – haha), you can also hear me rave about my experiences with the brand in previous posts here, here and here.
RMS Beauty: What’s all the fuss?
Aside from the pure, organic ingredients, the pigments to satisfy every fancy face and the packaging that is as pretty as it is functional (recyclable glass jars and aluminum lids), RMS Beauty is basically skincare with non-nano mineral colour (meaning nothing that shouldn’t be in your body is getting in there). You can mix the colours together to create your own shades of perfection, or use them as they were crafted.
About the Ingredients
RMS Beauty uses a base of pure organic ingredients that make their creamy makeup products so unique. Both the Buriti Bronzer & Living Luminizer boast Coconut Oil and Beeswax, while the Buriti Bronzer also ads in Jojoba seed oil, Cacao seed butter, non-GMO tocopherol, rosemary extract and non-nano mineral pigments.
So what’s Buriti? RMS’ wild crafted Buriti oil comes from the nuts of Brazil’s moriche palm tree and is said to the oil with the highest levels of Vitamin A and Beta-carotene. The Vitamin A content provides an anti-aging benefit, in addition to helping make that skin glow.
The Living Luminizer adds in castor seed oil, in addition to the coconut oil, beeswax and mineral pigments.
RMS Beauty Buriti Bronzer
The first secret to the natural skin-kissed look is the perfect bronzer. I haven’t seen a huge number of cream bronzers on the market, and after trying this one out, I am not sure why. The product is perfect for creating a natural sun-kissed glow because it’s sheer, but pigmented enough to give you a glow that looks completely natural – there are no orange streaks here. Apply a small amount (you only need a little) using your fingers on your cheeks, forehead near the hairline, bridge of the nose and even your chest & collarbones. You can also use it on the eyelids, although I prefer RMS’ eye shadows for that, as they sit nicely on the skin and will crease less.
For darker skinned beauties, you can use the Buriti Bronzer as a highlighter in itself!
RMS Beauty Living Illuminizer
The Luminizer is the second step in getting that skin glowing (I mean outside of a good diet, lots of sleep and H2O, of course – ha). Hands down, this is one of my all time favourite products ever. ever. ever. ever. It’s like youth dew. Add it to any face to take a couple years off just by creating the perfect glow. I travel with this product, put it on a couple times a day (as needed) and have been loving it for quite some time. Read my first review about it here.
I use the Living Luminizer specifically under the brow bone, on the upper cheek bones, the bridge of my nose and the top of the cupid’s bow on my lip. I apply it using my fingers, patting as small amount in on the desired areas, and blend with my (clean) fingers. You can also combine this product with a lipgloss to add in a nice shimmer, or put it on your collarbones to highlight your shoulders if you’re heading out on the town.
The finish is translucent and pearly, so it can work great on all skin tones.
